The international wine contest Mundus Vini Summer Tasting 2021 rewards Raíces VI Generación Crianza with Gold medal
More than 4,500 wines arrived from around 35 countries in the world, have been the protagonists during the last edition of Mundus Vini International Wine Grand Prize. More than 120 experts in the world of wine met to taste and evaluate these proposals from many different places around the world. Among all participants, a total of 36 wines were distinguished with the qualification of Great Gold, 971 wines with Gold and 811 with Silver. Spain has been the second most awarded country, with a total of 390 medals, only surpassed in number by Italian wines.
This year, the most mentioned wine is Raíces VI Generación, a crianza wine from Valdepeñas Denomination of Origin, made with special care as it represents the “family wine”. A wine in honor of the family history, 170 years of history of the winery under the management of the same family, the Castro’s. Its back label makes an honorable mention to all the managers and directors of the previous generations of the Castro family and a nod to the ones to come. This wine has already obtained the best score at the beginning of the year in an independent ranking of county wines for the HORECA channel, and now it has just surprised us again with a new gold medal in one of the most important competitions in Germany, Mundus Vini wine contest.
Our Raíces VI Generación Crianza, made from tempranillo grapes, has managed to make a place for itself among those distinguished with Gold medal, which is a true pride for our brand. This wine has stood out mainly for its harmony, its body and its potential. Raíces VI Generación offers an intense aroma with notes of spices, smoked products and berries. It is a pleasant wine on the palate and offers a correct aftertaste. These qualities are boost due to its minimum aging period of 24 months, of which 6 months were aging in oak barrels. At sight, it gives a nice burgundy red color, clean and bright.
These awards offer to producers, winegrowers, importers and consumers a market benchmark and great help in wine buying decision. In summary, it is a nice acknowledgment to producers for their hard work. MUNDUS VINI Awards are celebrated twice a year: a summer tasting with an eye toward fall fairs, and a spring tasting prior to ProWein fair.
